German Units Overall

Command Teams:   These units are the back bone to your army and you should try and keep them alive at all costs. If all command teams are killed you will soon notice that your army will panic, just give-in and then you will be finished for sure. If needs be try and buy more than one command team as you can not be every where on the battlefield. Your units will sometimes start to become affraid and that can lead onto panic attacks as your command radius does not cover from. Command teams are also needed if you are forced to advance on enemy positions and if going to engage the enemy in hand-to-hand combat stopping your men from becoming scared. If buying a command tank think about what it is capable of. They cost the more points as a tank without a command crew and dont have the morale or experience as a SS or FJ tank does and that could be a downfall, so be careful and think about your points.

German Infantry from 44’ to 45’: By early 1944 the German infantry units begin to get some excellent weapons for their platoons. These range from not only anti-infantry weapons like the excellent MP44 and Assault MG’s but anti-tank weapons like the deadly Panzerfaust’s. Given these types of weapons it makes the German late war infantry a great threat to both enemy infantry and also enemy armour. Below is a brief write up off German elite infantry units from shock platoons to rifel platoons of 1944 and 1945.

Lt. Infantry Platoons '45: This unit is the best anti-infantry killing unit in the German side. Containing 3 MP44’s, 3 MP40’s and a single assault FG42 and rifel makes this platoon the best anti-infantry unit that the Germans get. Close range or long range this unit delivers and massive punch it Russian infantry cutting down all that gets in it way. Even enemy armour is not a big problem as this unit is given the Panzerfaust 100 and 60’s model. Use this platoon in any combat terrain and just watch a real infantry platoon go to work.

Lt. Infantry Platoons '44: This unit has mixed combinations off short range and long range weapons as it is given MP44’s, FG42 and 3 rifels. This unit would be suited for covering open vic points or just open terrain. You could just even use this unit as a powerful reserve or set on ambush covering flanks if needs be. Still a deadly unit to both infantry and armour it can really be used in most combat rolls when placed with other maybe heavier armed German infantry units.

SS Lt. Infantry Platoons '44 & '45: These platoons are nothing like the FJ Lt infantry platoons at all. Armed with mainly just rifels these units have very little in the way of firepower and are not suited at all for close-combat engagements. These units should mainly be used for covering fire and reserve units. In open terrain these units can do some damage as their rifels are more accurate then the SMG’s and don’t burn up as much ammo also. Against Russian armour these units and be quite deadly as the 1945 SS Lt infantry platoon is given 2 Panzerfaust 60’s and the excellent model 100, this gives this unit a good chance if forced to engage enemy armour.

SS/FJ Shock Troops '44: These units are one of the best infantry killing platoons there is in the game having all green bars in its firepower display box. They contain a number of heavy weapons including assault MG’s aswell as the deadly MP44’s. The SS unit is the only German infantry platoon that has full bars in both morale and experience making this unit one of the best. Always keep an eye out on these units as they really do burn ammo up and a great speed and you could find your-self out of ammo very quicky, but it will cause massive damage to the enemy infantry. These platoon is excellent for both defensive and offensive moves and the SS 44’ shock platoon can be an excellent hand-to-hand fighting unit if needs be. Against enemy armour they can get into trouble as these units are only given 2 Panzerfaust 60’s and even the best experienced units can miss.

SS Shock Troops '45: This unit contains very little in the way of massive killing firepower like other platoons with 3 or 4 assault rifels. It is mainly armed with Russian PPS machine guns aswell as the German MP40’s and a single assault MG. This unit is really an excellent close-combat squard because of the small range of their fire-arms and having weapons that don’t burn up ammo as quick like the MP40/44’s. The Russian PPS machine guns are excellent for long fire-fights as they have a 71 round ammo drum unlike the German MP40/44 30 round drum. This gives this platoon an excellent defensive capability against infantry as it can engage the enemy for longer times. Against enemy armour this unit should really have no trouble as it is given a number of Panzerfaust including the 100 model and also explosives.

FJ Shock Troops '45: This platoon has a great combination of long range and short range weapons like the FG42 and Russian PPS machine guns which nearly gives this unit full green bars on it firepower display box. This unit makes an excellent defensive and offensive unit which can deal with most enemy infantry units and just about all rangers and can be deadly if set on ambush. Again this unit is only given 2 Panzerfaust 60’s which is enough to knock any tank out if a hit is made.
